One day I was in the kitchen and I heard Jillian call out "Mommy, there's a bird in a nest!" And I just assumed she was using her wonderful imagination while looking out the window. But after she kept saying it over again I came to look out our living room window. There's a tree that sits about 5 feet from the townhouse and is about as tall as the roof (about 4 floors.) Sure enough, directly out our window and down a little bit is a dove bird sitting on a nest (presumably with an egg or two in it!) We've been quietly peeking out the curtain for almost a week now to catch a look to see if any baby birds have hatched, but not yet. The mother bird seems to never leave the nest either--how devoted! :-) I'm so excited for when the eggs hatch because it'll be such a great thing for Jillian to witness. Every night we read two books called "The Best Nest" and "Flap Your Wings" (by PD Eastman) that Grammy gave to Jillian. These books couldn't have been more perfect for what's happening just outside our window.
