Cherry Blossom Festival

Every year the beautiful Cherry Blossom trees throughout the Washington DC area bloom for about 2 weeks. This past weekend was the kick off--along with a Kite Flying festival, the opening National's game, a marathon, and one or two other events. Needless to say, the city (and the metro) was packed with people. The day was beautiful with lots of sunshine and about 50 degrees. We had a wonderful time and got some amazing photos! Pink and White trees are such a site to see!

Here's a glimpse of the Kite Flying Festival near the Washington Monument. It was SO COOL! Next year we are definitely bringing our own kite to fly...there were 100's of kites between here and the Capitol building!

I think everyone took a photo of this...how pictuesque, huh?

Looking across the tidal basin

These are a type of magnolia...very different from FL magnolia trees!

Mike is such a picture "maker" not a picture "taker"!

How beautiful!

I was trying to get Jillian's attention to look at me and the camera...instead she started playing with her lips as if saying "BOOORING, how many more pictures?" But hey, her glazed-over look got Mike to smile!

I love the "glow" in this photo...gosh we love our camera!

A nice couple took this photo for us...it was like being at Disney with strangers offering to take your photo!
